Our school liaison is a engaging speaker with a degree in Nursing who has an established reputation in the school community for providing honest and factual information to students.
We currently offer two topics:
“Pregnant! Now What?”
This dynamic and interactive presentation reviews pregnancy, explores the potential options of an unplanned pregnancy, and summarizes sexually transmitted infections (emphasizing prevention). We present information based on the framework of ‘VIHA Healthy Choices’ curriculum. We strive to create a fun, unbiased, and open atmosphere of learning where students can think about pregnancy and STI’s in the context of their future hopes and dreams.
“Love & Infatuation”
This topic is a follow-up to “Pregnant! Now What?”, continuing within the framework of ‘VIHA Healthy Choices’ curriculum. She facilitates student discussion about positive and negative relationship characteristics which may be applied to any relationship dynamic, with an emphasis on present or future romantic relationships. Students are asked to brainstorm what love is and what love is not, and then apply those thoughts to the concepts of infatuation, lust, romance and sex. The realistic differences between love and infatuation are outlined by using a game and various popular media examples to elaborate the points of discussion that are initiated.

Durations: 50min - 1hr20min
